NTT America's Executive to Speak at OTTcon East

June 16, 2010
Michael Wheeler, NTT America's Global IP Network Business Unit vice president, will speak at the OTTcon East conference at the Atlanta Conference Center Holiday Inn Select in Atlanta.

Wheeler will speak on the topic of "Leveraging Infrastructure Assets to Get with the Program," on Thursday, June 17, 2010, from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET.

OTT is redefining the future of TV and entertainment services. The disruptive nature of OTT services and content delivery are challenging the business models of pay TV operators, CE manufacturers, content owners and more.

OTTcon East will focus on in-depth perspectives and critical analysis surrounding the OTT TV and video market. Apart from focusing on how the disruptive nature of OTT is challenging the business models of pay TV operators, consumer electronics manufacturers, content owners and others, the conference will also focus on how OTT is redefining the future of TV and entertainment services.

"How we watch television is changing dramatically, but what consumers have come to expect in terms of quality is not," said Michael Wheeler, vice president of the Global IP Network for NTT (News - Alert) America. "Our goal as a service provider is to make certain that our network exceeds the expectations of our CDN, ISP and infrastructure customers so their end users have a seamless over-the-top video experience."

In this conference, innovators, analysts and technology experts can address the key technical and market issues faced by strategic planners. Often, these professionals will have to face critical business and technology issues in the increasingly disaggregated world of video entertainment. The conference will be attended by OTT service providers, multiple system operators (MSOs), satellite and telecommunications companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content delivery networks (CDNs) and broadband providers.

Recently, the company appointed Kazuhiro Gomi (News - Alert) as the company's new president and chief executive officer "CEO" as well as the member of the Board of Directors. Formerly, acting as chief operating officer and the acting head of the Enterprise Solutions Business unit, Gomi will now be succeeding Tetsuro Yamaguchi as CEO. Yamaguchi was named president and CEO of NTT America (News - Alert) in 2006, according to the release.
