Schneider Electric Launches StruxureWare Data Center Operation for Colocation for Multitenant Data Centers

February 06, 2013

Schneider Electric (News - Alert), a global energy management firm, recently expanded its StruxureWare for data centers software suite, with the addition of a new data center infrastructure management (DCIM) application. Called StruxureWare Data Center Operation for colocation, this new application is specially designed for data centers with multiple tenants.

DCIM involves keeping a tab on multiple operational aspects of a facility, including cooling and space allocation. The new application provides insight into these aspects and helps optimize data center energy, equipment and space usage. The application, according to its maker, is capable of monitoring operate, analyzing and optimizing the power, cooling, security and energy usage from building through IT systems.

The application provides real-time status updates on data center capacities, including data center power, cooling and available space and helps identify any constraints for future expansion. The information also helps in the better allocation of equipment and resources.

Providing for an integrated tenant billing and support, the application enables the facility managers to optimize the energy resources and run their data centers profitably. The tenant billing feature facilitates importing of tenant and billing account data from the CRM system into the DCIM system for mapping tenant assets, providing detailed power draw, total energy footprint and access to an instant impact analysis at the tenant level.

The StruxureWare data center operation for colocation comes with advanced power modeling features, including the ability to model distributed redundant UPS and distributed redundant UPS with catcher for a representation of the actual power distribution in a facility.

“StruxureWare data center operation for colocation provides unique business advantages for multitenant data center operators. This DCIM solution identifies available cage and rack space and has the ability to integrate tenant billing, saving co-location providers time while delivering the most accurate availability information to make business decisions and transactions on the go, at a speed they have never been able to conduct such business before,” Vice President of Solution Software at Schneider Electric Soeren Brogaard Jensen noted in a statement.

At Cisco (News - Alert) live last month, Schneider Electric  announced  EnergySTEP@Work, a new solution that brings IT devices and plug load energy use online to make it visible and controllable with Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare  software applications.
