Next Connex Actively Supports Next Generation Data's New Colocation Hall

January 11, 2013

Next Generation Data (NGD), touted to be Europe’s largest data center facility, has launched a dedicated colocation data hall at its Tier 3+ carrier-neutral data center near Newport, South Wales. Next Connex, a supplier of connectivity and IP transit to the site, is actively supporting the launch of this new dedicated colocation hall.

“As a dark fiber network provider, Next Connex’s Internet Access and point-to-point low latency connections make NGD a compelling colocation facility,” noted Richard Auld, commercial director at Next Connex.

The new colocation hall, opened on Oct. 15, 2012, offers extra capacity with a flexible network that can accommodate future growth.

Working together, NGD and fiber network owner Next Connex hope to improve the quality of service and cater to the increasing demand from channel partners for highly secure scalable, price competitive, colocation services.

Steve Davis (News - Alert), sales director at NGD, confirmed the channel partner program launched in May 2012 did indeed create “strong demand” from resellers for secure colocation services.

Moreover, as traditional restrictions on fiber distance and latency dissolve, NGD, in conjunction with facilities in London, can reportedly be used a disaster recovery option.

Next Connex links data centers across the U.K. with fully diverse routes into NGD and the current relationship will reportedly exploit its 800km fiber network, which claims to connect NGD diversely to London Docklands in under 1.6ms.

By partnering with data center space in various locations, Next Connex will be enabling a range of choices when building a replication platform. It can also create transparent links between sites in a wide range of locations. This will help providers that are in search of bespoke and resilient solutions.

The two firms have decided to offer three months of free connectivity between NGD and other on-net data centers. This rent-free duration is expected to give prospective colocation customers a breather, during which they can recover from their connection costs and also install and test their equipment before they start functioning.

Zayo Group (News - Alert) announces it will provide dark fibre connectivity to Next Connex, a wholesale data centre and Internet infrastructure provider. The bespoke connection from Zayo allows Next Connex to support data center operators by providing connectivity to other data centers and Internet hubs.
