Colocation Provider Sentrum Colo Selects Next Connex to Improve Network Connectivity
Next Connex, a wholesale data center and Internet infrastructure provider, has announced that Sentrum Colo, one of greater London’s major colocation providers, has selected Next Connex fiber. According to the company, this improves available network connectivity for Sentrum Colo.
A dark fiber network, or simply "dark network," offers users the ability to lease fiber and operate it instead of buying bandwidth. This is beneficial for providers offering Internet, IP access and private networking.
This is also beneficial for service providers and large companies. Actually, leasing fiber from dark fiber providers like Next Connex to connect to data centers has various advantages. Using defined point-to-point routes, the company’s dark fiber network will transmit data at very low latency. While Next Connex can offer waves at 1Gb/s, 2.5Gb/s, 4Gb/s, 10Gb/s, 40Gb/s and 100Gb/study, up to 80 wavelengths can be used on a single optical fiber, known as Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM).
Bob Griffiths, managing director of Next Connex, said in a statement, “2012 has been an exciting year of developments and partnerships at Next Connex. Our partnership with Sentrum is confirmation of Next Connex’s ongoing commitment to working with the highest quality data centers. We need to be able to provide guaranteed end-to-end services for our customers, just as Sentrum now can using our next generation network. We look forward to celebrating the festive quarter together with them on Dec. 6.”
Sentrum Colo has deployed the data center into a wider estate of sites that are interlinked with Next Connex’s Layer 1 network infrastructure.
In 2011, the company stated that it provided fast, scalable, cost-effective and reliable network connectivity in these times. Offering guaranteed sub-2 millisecond connectivity between data centers and high capacity services that scale up to 100Gb/s in some cases, leaders in the infrastructure field are now building networks. Along with resilience, security and scalability which are of paramount importance to data intensive and high capacity businesses.
