Vox Telecom, Inteliquent Partner to Expand Network Coverage in South Africa

With an advanced MPLS network that is highly interconnected to carriers around the world, Inteliquent provides voice, IP transit, Ethernet and hosted service solutions to organizations in over 80 countries and six continents.

No wonder then that Vox Telecom, seeking to expand its global Ethernet reach across South Africa by providing voice and data service in the market, entered into a strategic alliance with Inteliquent, a top five global IP transit provider with a dominant IPv6 network.

The agreement does two things. First, Vox can access Inteliquent's EtherCloud solution by leveraging 130 points of presence worldwide, increasing the availability of its layer 2 Ethernet services, especially in Europe and North America. Second, Inteliquent's coverage throughout South Africa is expected to become stronger.

"We're pleased to add Vox Telecom's extensive network presence in South Africa to expand our coverage and better serve the needs of our customers in this region,” said Surendra Saboo (News - Alert), president and chief operating officer at Inteliquent.

A Layer 2 platform connects diverse partner networks into a seamless Ethernet cloud that delivers end-to-end connectivity around the world, providing a one-stop-shop connect for users. Layer 2 Ethernet services enable customers to decrease network complexity and improve and optimize capacity while reducing costs.

"Inteliquent's extensive network reach is complemented by the network reach of each of our EtherCloud partners," noted Saboo, commenting on the alliance.

By providing comprehensive coverage in the South African region, both the companies expect to be able to cater to the growing demand for Ethernet services in the market.

In related news, Equinix (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of global data center services, announced it will significantly expand its operational relationship with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, one of the world’s largest single metro area Internet exchanges, allowing users to monitor, troubleshoot, upgrade and configure software easily without any hassle.
