IP transit channel feature
Chris Palermo Appointed to Board of Directors, Advisor for Millicorp
By utilizing the Internet business IP phones, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) is changing the way we communicate. A Point Topic analysis predicts that by 2015, the VoIP market will generate an impressive $40 billion. Just last year, VoIP had more than 120 million subscribers worldwide. With the trend expected to continue, companies in the industry are making changes of their own to adapt to the latest technology.
Millicorp, a provider of interconnected VoIP applications and services, recently appointed Chris Palermo, president and CEO of Global Communications Networks, to the board of directors, where he will also serve as an advisor to Millicorp.
Palermo’s leadership skills have led Global Communications Networks into one of the leading providers of IP transit, collocation and network solutions to some of the largest companies in the world. Global Communications Networks made the INC. 500/5000 list of America’s fastest growing companies in both 2011 and 2012, and currently ranks as the 45th fastest growing telecommunications company in the U.S.
Global Communications Networks offers solutions for voice, data, project management, data center and cloud computing. Its global partnerships ensure that you have access to dedicated Internet access (DIA) and IP transit service that is extremely fast, fully scalable and completely reliable. Features of its IP transit solution include Tier 1 ISPs owning/operating a global network, consistent speed and performance, optimized network efficiency, broad spectrum of access and billing options, seamless integration of emerging technologies and guaranteed up-times and throughputs.
Palermo graduated from the University of Florida and worked in the telecom industry for more than two decades before launching his own company in 1997.
“We’ve been fortunate to have always had experienced and seasoned board members but we needed to enhance the team with a technologist strategist and entrepreneurial spirit, our choice was easy, Chris is that person,” said Timonthy Meade, CEO and president of Millicorp. “Chris’ perspective perfectly complements our unique and rapidly growing company, we are pleased that he accepted and joined our team.”
Meade attended Ohio State University and soon after began his career as the software developer of Multi-Platform PKZIP data compression software and the exclusive global reseller for WinZIP. This led him to launch Ascent Solutions, Inc., where he served as CEO and president and also made the Inc. 500 list twice. Meade launched Millicorp in 2008.
"I'm delighted to be joining the Board of Millicorp and excited to be an active advisor to this dedicated group who are leading the way as visionaries in telecommunications,” said Palermo.
Millicorp offers products that develop better communication methods and services, including its MilliTalk, MilliVox and ConsCallHome products. Millitalk provides unmatched 100 percent pure digital telephone communication via an existing broadband connection. MilliVox is a state of the art communications network for customers who have an intense desire for a reliable worldwide communications system, and ConsCallHome provides customers with a phone number and connects family members across a secure VoIP network for a fraction of the normal long-distance fees imposed by a correction facility.
