New EVP for Giglinx Brings Expertise in the IP Transit Space
Every once in a while, a provider that services a niche market makes an important decision to bolster its business globally, and that is just what Giglinx appears to have done with its recent hiring of Jake Cummins as executive vice president of sales.
As a provider of IP transit and Layer 2 Transport at wholesale pricing, Giglinx is looking to expand its customer base to reach more globally-interested parties in its high quality Tier 1 and Tier 2 IP Transit, CDN, and Colocation offerings.
Having been in the IP transit and data transport business for five years, and telecom for nine, most recently as a part of the Executive Leadership Team, at Global Telecom and Technology, Cummins brings experience with the wholesale carrier markets as well as enterprise and the small to medium-sized business markets.
“The reason I chose Giglinx is because their reputation is very good with their customers and within the industry. They’re very flexible, nimble, and they fill a unique niche. They’ve been around for almost 10 years and have survived through good planning and strategy. My plan is to bring my knowledge of the IP transit and data transport marketplace as well my global network partnerships in over 80 countries to help Giglinx in their evolution to more of a managed service provider and network integrator; that not only services customers across North America, but also globally,” stated Cummins in an interview.
Having worked at WBS Connect (News - Alert), Cummins has experience in working with a company that was experiencing similar rapid growth in the industry. Cummins helped grow WBS Connect from about a $3 million to a $28 million company. WBS Connect was then purchased by GTT in December of 2009. “My experience at WBS connect was invaluable and gave me some insight on what works and what pitfalls to avoid. It seems like Giglinx is making all the right moves. “
“Giglinx is ecstatic to have Jake onboard; I have admired his work for many years. The amount of warm congratulations I have received this past week from customers and vendors alike is a testament to his work ethic and integrity “said Marcus Mamolen President of Giglinx.
We look forward to seeing where Giglinx grows with Cummins’ expertise and experience.
